LA waiting

I have wanted to post about my weekend in Hollywood but I left my camera down there. Until my friend sends it back, which I should get by tomorrow or Thursday, the Hollywood post will have to wait.

I will say though that I had alot of fun and it only fueled my desire to move down there. back with more in a couple of days

Hop, Skip & a Jump

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about my travels around the world with one of my buddies back in December 2001 and how much id love to do it again. I was only 19 at the time and even though I felt like I was taking in everything I possibly could, there was a lot I didn’t or just wasn’t mature enough to that I would now. Maybe it’s just that I didn’t know then what I do now that would make the whole experience so much more fulfilling.

I mean, I saw all the museums and art deco’s but did I really take them in or just see them to say I saw them? I traveled the cities and saw the people but I didn’t get to know the locals like I would now and I didn’t take in the culture as much as I saw the tourist locations that are all the same where ever you go. I spent 3 ‘wasted’ weeks in London, 2 ‘uneventful’ weeks in Miami and many lost days trolling around for underground bars.

Don’t get me wrong. I had the best three months of my life on that adventure but there were things I would do different. I would have taken notice of the smaller things that were either too trivial to expand my knowledge on or I would only scratch the surface of due to the bigger and better things coming in the next country.

The pictures have so many stories that only Wayne and I can share. He has some I don’t remember and I with him. Some of the pictures I can actually remember being in the moment taking; how cold it was, how sick I was from that damn stale orange juice or how cool it was I took that picture because I was too drunk to remember without it.

There are some instances that I remember so vividly I can close my eyes and see everything. What I would give to be there again.

I met some great people in my travels. It would be so intriguing to fall upon Jaime who we met in Niagara Falls and see if she finished her degree. A school mate who I hadn’t seen since I left school almost 10 years ago except for once, across the other side of the world in New York City. Juan who we bunked with in Miami had such a warm soul but was paid peanuts for the hard work he put in day and day out. I wonder where he is today and if he eventually made it back to South America.

Perhaps Im grasping for something that is not there. Another opportunity to hold on to and conquer the world like I know I can. Maybe I am wishing that if I had done more, seen more and experienced more I would feel that much closer to the dream again. Surely there is another opportunity on the horizon to test my will, wit and world experience. With everything I learnt traveling through 13 countries and countless cities I know there is much more to learn. To see. To experience.

Thunder Valley

I am going to the casino tonight. Not for fun, nor for entertainment. Ok maybe some entertainment but definitely not to lose anything. I got a call from my cousin telling me payroll is tomorrow (ummm, like I didn’t already know) and he wants to try and win enough to cover it. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of 50k. I’m going to go so I can look at that much money and maybe pocket a chip or two :)

Room 401 is on tonight. Fot those of you who do not know of it it’s a show that basically scares the be-Jesus out of people. Looks fukn hilarious!

money bags

As you may have read in previous posts, I am not very good with handling finances, I mean, I am, but, im also not. Ok, let me explain this to you like im talking to a 5 year old. Im not insulting you by the way, im moreso explaining it that way so I can understand it when I proof read. Anyway…first things first is I never have late payments. NEVER. Infact, since I have lived here (17 months) all of my payments haven’t even reached the period where its almost late but not quite. I mean the period between being on time and being late. You know, where the statement says “this is due on the 1st and you will incur a late fee if it has not been paid by the 15th’. So there’s those 14 days between where your not technically early but your also not late but you’d better get your ass in to gear if you don’t want to be late. This is often times referred to as the ‘grace period’.

Getting on with it.

I recently re-financed my house. Recently meaning today and from this I took some cash out of my property to basically catch up on some stuff and maybe a little bit of fun. Good on me. Smart move. Some would say it’s a bad idea but im all for having my money work for em and enjoying it and that’s what I do. I spend money. Even though I have not yet received the ‘cash out’ I have already booked a hotel in San Francisco this weekend with the intent to splurge in every store I deem fit to step inside, planned and will be booking flights down to LA to see some friends and again splurge on the fantastic LA shopping (its there, just needs to be found, I know this) and have many more ‘toys’ I have in the to get file.

To my credit I also plan on paying off my credit card and clearing half of my car loan from the books.

My problem with money is not that I cant pay bills. I can do that. My problem is I cannot save for anything. Luckily for me I have a 401k (basically for the aussies it’s a retirement plan) and I feel like that will be enough even though its probably not and I also have no idea how ill pay my taxes at the end of the year, although im hoping Christmas and bday money will cover that. So, in conclusion, even though it doesn’t seem like I have a plan I kinda do.

I will let you all know how SF is. I plan on getting a tattoo when I go to LA on the 25th so if you have suggestions please tell.

Have a good weekend!

Louie is trying out for the Sacramento Kings Dance team tonight. Everyone cross your fingers and toes for her and everything in between (if you have it). How cool would it be to be dating a professional dancer?!

EDIT: Louie was cut on the final cut of the day. Disappointing :(

I have a Apple Iphone! I could not be any more excited right now!! If I could hug you all right now I would...then chuckle at my luck to land one of these things. Yes, it is technology that will, no doubt, be outdated in a few months but for a few months ill be happy to have the coolest phone ever, yes, thankyou.

I almost feel like posting my phone number so you all can call me on my cool phone.
